The Zedu weekly wrap - bringing together the best in free ultrasound news, views and opinions from across the internet.

Zedu Weekly Wrap – 14 April 2023

We took a break this week…

Suean and Michael - Zedu Ultrasound

well, at least a couple of days – between hot cross bun/chocolate induced food comas and poor weather productivity was reduced 🙂 Teaching will return to it’s normal schedule on Monday (we hope).

Things to check out in this edition – @WINFOCUS finds that training exclusively on healthy volunteers is AOK, @POCUS101 adds to their free resources (this time focused on shoulder imaging) and @jminardi21 releases his 25oth YouTube video (awesome work Joseph) with the final in a series on DVT.

Checking out for the day for another snack of chocolate…

See you next week.

Suean and Mike

P.S. – the April Coaching Corner from last week will be up within the next week – keep your eyes peeled.

Zedu Coaching Corner April 2023 - how to maximise your ultrasound teaching potential

Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!

Comparison of Single-operator Laser-assisted Ultrasound-guided Radial Arterial Cannulation in Young Children with Traditional Ultrasound Guidance: A Randomized Clinical Trial

(A) Original design picture (left) and real object (right) of the 3D-printed laser enclosure. (B) Design picture (left) and real object (right) of the ultrasonic probe manipulator arm. (C) Components of the single-operator laser-assisted ultrasound-guided system: manipulator arm (arrow 1); laser enclosure (arrow 2); ultrasonic probe (arrow 3); sliding rail (the ultrasonic probe can move forward and backward parallel through the sliding rail of the manipulator arm and hover at any position; arrow 4); and front gripper (which clamps the ultrasonic probe and is usually fixed at a designated angle of approximately 60 degrees; arrow 5). (D) The real object of the laser device with 3D-printed technique: laser source (arrow 1); belt to fasten the laser enclosure (arrow 2); and a linear laser is directed perpendicular to the long axis of the ultrasonic probe and passes through the middle marker of the probe (arrow 3).
